Christopher  Preece

Sometime teacher, bookseller, insurance man, probate valuer, but mostly 30 years a banker. I have lived mostly in Surrey until retirement (a smidgeon early) when we moved to Watersfield, a village some 6 miles from Billingshurst. I have had a number of interests, including Parish Council work for several years, and am currently a Volunteer Room Steward at Petworth House a few miles away.

I write mostly poetry, on various subjects, but also write some prose, (this harking back to years of report writing in the City of London). I have had some items published, the odd poem, book review, cartoons and an occasional article, but nothing yet of note, although I am building up a body of work with a view to eventual printing. Joined Slipstream Poets in 2007 as my poetic motor sometimes needs the intellectual equivalent of jump leads.

I do not always write in rhyme though, nor in standard verses, by any means. Also, I do not believe that all poetry should be serious, though some of mine is.

An examples of my work is shown. In 'Bullrush' I have developed a piece from a snippet done at a Workshop where we chose any line from a selection and took it from there.
